When I was getting back into golf I made a great choice in joining Ligonier Country Club. The members are collegial, have been welcoming from the start, and I have made many new friends. The golf course, restaurant and pavilion are all superb and unrivaled in aesthetics. The facility, overall, is a great venue to host any type or gathering. My wife and I have celebrated our wedding ceremony, reception, and her baby shower at the club and the execution was flawless.

“For most of my life, I thought that country clubs were places that rich people went to escape other people they did not want to be around, to rub shoulders with other rich people, and to tell the rest of us that they belonged to a country club that we were not even allowed to visit. Naturally, I figured that this was no place for me.
But in the last few years, business required that I have some contact with another local club that unfortunately had at least some of the bad aspects I had always believed. I decided to give it one more try, and check out the Ligonier Country Club.
From the very first experience, it was clear that the people there felt the same way I did about traditional country clubs and decided that they would be different. No need to wear a jacket in the dining room, no expectation that they were going to call you by your last name, no snobs to wade through when you’re just looking to take your family for a great meal. Just people who are genuinely nice because that is simply the way they are, greeting everybody and welcoming to kids, teenagers and cranky old men like me.
It begins with Bill, the general manager, who is a guy you can have a beer with, tell jokes and laugh all night long. The rest of the staff picks up his lead, knows and calls you by your first name, and really cares that you have a good time when you go there.
The food is the best I have had in any venue in the area. Their chef is a woman who has been there for many years and I have offered to either adopt her or marry her just so that she can cook for me every day. My wife agrees with this.
Oh, yes, they have a golf course. It is a fun course to play and is always kept in tremendous condition. Like everything else at this place, their golf course is for you to enjoy, and they succeed.
This is truly the anti-Country Club Country Club. And thank God for it.”
